Although checking cams early can be good to catch imps offguard I assume most people who use cams early are imps cos they have nothing else to do. I only check cams when I’m done with tasks

Not to braaaag, but I almost always finish tasks near the beginning of a game and sometimes I think how easy the game would be if everyone just did their tasks
Checking the security systems is usually, unless I have a visual task that nobody had seen yet, my last step.

I will camp cams before my tasks are done in order to prove my innocence. I’m talking those times when you’re playing with people who say you MUST be self-reporting in the dark or some other dumb reason and you’re almost voted out as a result. (Meaning it’s not just the imps who accuse and vote you.)
I’ve done this like three times. And every time I am killed on cams and every time. . .meeting starts with, “Oh. I guess white isn’t imp.” lol.
I know that isn’t what you’re really talking about, but I wanted to share.

This is the downside of The Skeld. It’s a speed game. If the Imposters don’t take crewmates out fast enough, you have task-less crewmates on cams with body guards. But sometimes you pop on cams early and get lucky.
99% of people I’ve seen chilling on cams have finished tasks, or just check on cams since they had a nearby task.
I patrol and watch others while they task. I can provide witness, or alibi. Once others are finished, I do my tasks while they follow me.
I never go to cams. My Skeld route is almost always electrical or medbay first (do the most dangerous tasks during the first impostor kill cool down as soon as game starts or just after a meeting), then admin, then front side of ship (weapons to shields), then through storage and to the back side of ship (lower engine to upper engine) and then wherever any other unfinished tasks are. When I’m done I just run around body-hunting or stay around the highest concentration of crewmates. If possible, I try to skip camping cams and admin table alone cause a sneaky impostor might slip through the vent and snap my neck when no one’s looking.

Tbh it depends on how long your games tend to last; as in if it’s few tasks and 10s cooldown for kills, id agree, but longer form games I disagree as crew needs info to find the imposters.
Unless this is Polus bc those cameras are next to useless
If there are more than 4-5 tasks, tasks are pointless since you’ll never get a task win. Catching an imp on cams is far more useful.
I do when I’m done. If I see cams on early I go to see who.

I was once imp and saw a bunch of people camping on cams. I killed one and pretended to be on cams as well. 30 seconds later, nobody has reported the body yet, so I kill another. Another 30 seconds go by and still no report, so I kill the third guy, and won the game.

As imposter first person I go for is cams…first off most people are doing tasks so I’ll go fake a task or 2(if the task bar is set to meetings) then I go STRAIGHT to security and if I see someone they’re dying and if there’s two I do the good ol lights sabotage and smoke check em. Fuck those guys

I’m okay with them heading there right away as long as they get there tasks done eventually…aka: not going straight to cams after the first meeting
What do you think is the ratio of vote wins to task wins for the crew? For me it’s greater than 10:1. I understand that tasks create time pressure that forces mistakes, and I’m not a task slacker by any means…I finish in almost all of my games, and only maybe twice have I ever been last to finish for a task win. But trying to catch impostors is *never* a waste of time.
The more serious issue with cams is that it can be a soft target. Going there very early actually makes that much less of a problem because of the heavy traffic in electrical (on Polus). I never linger there in the midgame or endgame because it’s a little blinking light saying “come kill me!”

Don’t be a shitty crew mate and let people play how they want. If you have problems with ransoms just go to discord or make friends. It’s that easy.
