imo the trade off is that its damage isn’t unique. look at all of the classes:
marksman: stupidly low ttk (low ammo and low health, rev specific)
lmg: stupidly high health, large mag size (long reload and low damage)
sniper: instant ttk (low health and low ammo)
rev: 90 dmg/shot, ok damage
ak: good ammo, ok damage
smg: good close range ttk, good ammo, walljump (damage drop off)
famas: stupidly ttk, good ammo (super hard to play)

of course, this makes it the best in pubs since ammo matters a fair bit, but since its only “good” stat is ammo, and its damage is mediocre at best, imo it doesn’t really need a downside
Marksman was only good when it first came out. 100 hp, sniper scope -yes, sniper scope- and when you could rack up no-scope and quick-scope combos. It was like paradise though it’s damage was mostly the same.

Well you can’t forget the fact that Sniper has a secondary that can pop off an LMG after nearly blowing the poor guy’s head off, Bowman exists which just ruins an LMG’s day, and the completely useless “nerf” to the throwing knife. Basically any high damage class with a secondary is sure to screw some poor LMG wielding sod over.
As for the AK, it’s just completely unbalanced. Crutch. 30 ammo? Yeah just buff that with a short reload and in the middle of the fight AK can reload and pop off a few guys on his back.
My ideas for a balance:
* Take away the secondary, if you don’t want the nerf below.
* If you don’t like that nerf above, then lower it to 20 bullets.
* Lower the bullet damage to say… 18 damage would be fine. (optional)
* Make the reload maybe 10 to 20 milliseconds slower. (optional)
Those are my propositions for the nerf.
Ok, I see what you’re going at. The reason I believe the class is like this is that the class is supposed to be easy to learn and basically the jack of all trades. It has decent movement speed, decent damage, a high fire rate, and so on. This means it is not hard to learn for newer people and if a high skilled player uses it, they can use it to easily pub stomp. The devs have added some small nerfs like the reload speed but it really never nerfed the class too hard. However, I do agree with you that there aren’t any trade-offs but that is what makes the gun so easy to use. My one problem with your post is that if any high skilled player were to use a class such as the hunter class, they would probably dominate since you can one-shot almost all of the classes with a body/headshot. I’m not saying you’re wrong, but I’m saying any class can be overpowered if a high skill player uses it. One final thing I want to say is that there will never be a way to 100% balance a game. A certain part of your community will always complain about something being too overpowered or underpowered no matter what you do. Sure, you can nerf AK to the ground, but then other classes will start to be used more like maybe Famas or Semi-Auto start to resurface, and then the player base will start to complain about those two being overpowered. You can NEVER (In my opinion) make a game 100% balanced and fair.

think wut u wanna think i think the communities been a little toxic lately around topics regarding the shotgun and AK.
ak isnt as op as you think it is, most people think if ak takes less skill then it must be op, that is not the case. With any gun you have to hit shots, the movment speed of a class means nothing when you can zoom around the map at mach 2. ak reload speed and sniper reload speed are pretty close so i dont see were your going with that. if you miss your sniper shot then you can just wip out your o’l secondary and shoot them down. no class is op it all comes down to aim, hell even shot gun isnt op.
